The Nexus Project Tops Out Tower 2

On the morning of April 5, 2023, a formal topping-out ceremony was held at The Nexus project site, marking a major milestone in the construction progress of this landmark development.

On the morning of April 5, 2023, the topping-out ceremony for Tower 2 of The Nexus project took place with full attendance from all key stakeholders — including the Investor REFICO, General Contractor RICONS, Project Supervisor MACE, Post-Tensioning Contractor PMEC, along with design and construction partners. As an international-grade Grade A office tower, The Nexus is rigorously monitored by global project management firm MACE Group, ensuring strict compliance with construction quality and safety standards. Building on the success of previous collaborations, PMEC and RICONS have once again proven their strong coordination at The Nexus — delivering a project that meets top-tier timelines, construction quality, safety protocols, and documentation requirements.

The Nexus comprises two towers: Tower 1 with 25 floors and Tower 2 with 35 floors, sitting atop a 5-level basement over 20 meters deep, with a total construction floor area exceeding 118,000 m². The foundation is located adjacent to a Metro line, with a diaphragm wall just 4 meters from the Metro tunnel. The allowable displacement is strictly capped at 12mm, requiring extremely careful construction control and rapid progress to minimize structural movement and protect Metro line integrity.

With a spirit of professionalism and determination, PMEC’s site management team has successfully met stringent safety and quality requirements, earning high praise from both RICONS and supervising consultant MACE.

Given the project’s high technical demands, the PMEC PT System was selected and approved by the Investor, Consultant, and Main Contractor. More than 6,500 live anchor sets manufactured by PMEC have been installed, meeting all relevant industry benchmarks for post-tensioning systems, in line with European quality standards.

The topping-out of Tower 2 marks a proud milestone and a collective achievement by the entire on-site team — from RICONS to PMEC and all execution units — in bringing this landmark project closer to completion.

Previously, Tower 1 was topped out in December 2022 and is currently in the finishing phase. Tower 2 is scheduled for completion within 6 months, with handover to the Investor expected by October 2023.
